How to create an account, purchase, and start using Avalw Shield
This guide walks you through the entire process from creating your account to activating your license. Whether you are buying for yourself or for your team, everything is covered here.
Creating your account
To get started with Avalw Shield, you need to create a free account on our platform. This account is where you manage your licenses, view invoices, and access the referral program.
Go to shield.avalw.ai/app
Open your browser and navigate to shield.avalw.ai/app. You will see the login and registration page.
Create your account
Enter your email address and choose a password. Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click "Create Account". You will receive a confirmation email.
Choose your account type
After logging in, you can choose between Personal and Company account. Personal accounts can purchase up to 7 licenses (family plan). Company accounts have no limit and receive volume discounts. You can switch between them at any time in your profile settings.
Purchasing a license
Avalw Shield uses FastSpring as our payment processor. FastSpring is a Merchant of Record, which means they handle all payment processing, tax calculation, VAT collection, and invoice generation on our behalf. You can pay with credit card, PayPal, or other local payment methods depending on your country.
Go to the Purchase section
In your dashboard, click "Purchase" in the sidebar. You will see the pricing page with the option to select how many licenses you need.
Select your quantity and click Purchase
Choose 1 to 5 licenses for personal accounts, or enter a custom quantity for company accounts. Volume discounts apply automatically at 20+ seats. Click the "Purchase" button to open the checkout.
Complete payment in the checkout popup
A secure checkout popup from FastSpring will open directly on the page. Enter your email, payment details, and optionally your company name and VAT number if you are purchasing as a business. The final price including any applicable taxes will be calculated automatically based on your country. If you have a coupon code, you can enter it here. Click "Purchase" to complete your order.
Receiving your license
After your payment is confirmed, two things happen simultaneously:
- FastSpring sends you an email receipt with your invoice and your license key
- Your license key appears automatically in your dashboard under "Licenses"
The license key is a 40-character code that looks like this: 7BAE5C375F116F4D56B1B02FAB247256EBBFCF01
License delivery is instant
Your license key is generated automatically the moment your payment is confirmed. There is no waiting time. You can start using Shield immediately.
Viewing your invoice
Every purchase comes with a full invoice generated by FastSpring. You can access your invoice in two ways:
- From the email receipt sent to you by FastSpring after purchase
- From your dashboard under "Licenses", click "View Invoice" next to any license
The invoice includes all details required for business accounting: company name, VAT number (if provided), itemized pricing, tax breakdown, and payment confirmation. FastSpring handles all tax compliance as the Merchant of Record.
Activating your license
Download Avalw Shield
On Windows, download from the Microsoft Store. On Mac, download the direct version from shield.avalw.ai (not the App Store version, as the App Store version does not support license key activation).
Enter your license key
Open Avalw Shield and go to "Redeem Code" or "Activate License". Enter the 40-character license key you received. Your license activates instantly on that device.
Each license key activates on one device (Mac or Windows). If you purchased multiple licenses, each key activates on a separate device.
The referral program
Every personal account comes with a referral program. You can earn commissions by sharing Avalw Shield with others.
How it works
In your dashboard, go to the "Referral" section. You will find your unique referral link. When you share this link with someone and they create an account and purchase a license, two things happen:
- They receive a 5% discount on their purchase
- You earn a commission on the sale
Your referral link
Your referral link looks like this: shield.avalw.ai/?ref=YOUR_CODE
When someone opens your link, they land on a special page that explains Avalw Shield and shows the 5% discount. The referral code is saved automatically so the discount applies when they purchase.
Commission tiers
Your commission rate depends on how many referrals you make. The more people you refer, the higher your commission percentage. Commissions start as "pending" and become "available" when the buyer activates their license or after 14 days, whichever comes first. This protects against refunds on unactivated licenses.
You can track all your referrals, pending commissions, and available earnings directly in your dashboard.
Who can use the referral program
The referral program is available to all personal accounts. Company accounts have a separate partner and reseller program. For partnership inquiries, contact business@avalw.ai.
Device replacement
Avalw Shield works completely offline with no server communication. Because of this, we cannot remotely revoke or transfer a license. If you need to change your device (new computer, reinstalled operating system, or hardware upgrade), you can request a free device replacement:
- First replacement: available 30 days after activation
- Subsequent replacements: once every 2 years
Contact business@avalw.ai with your license key and we will issue a replacement.
